To be logically consistent, de-transitioners should be able to find support within the ‘trans community’ given the mismatch between physiology and psychology is evidently unresolved. However, it seems that their collective sympathy is unidirectional, exclusively reserved for those who have attempted to physically modify their born sex. Acknowledging chemical and surgical regret is seen as a threat. I wonder how many transitioners have been unable to express their own regret and quite apart from that, how could a parent who has condoned the physical modification of their child ever admit it was a mistake? Consequently I suspect there is a lot of internalised anger at play and suggest it is that, plus misogyny (which is out in the open now at scale), that causes this movement’s aggressive presentation. The biggest irony is that those who want to become women seem to have no empathy for them.

Very well written. To “irreversible medical procedures,” they are, but the resistance to that description has been fierce in the case of puberty blockers, despite the weight of evidence that after a certain window of time, the effects are permanent.

Also, I object to the omnipresent framing of “care,” with its loving implications, despite the prevalent lack of followup after the surgeries / administration of cross-sex hormones, or indeed omitting even options of treatment for medical harms. “Interventions” seems a better description for the medicalization of gender dysphoria. But here in the states, adherents continually repeat the formula “denying health care to trans youth.”
